Check out this futuristic metro station in Budapest!
The winning visual design for the Ecseri Street metro station has been chosen. By now, we can see how the station and its surroundings will look. Construction is set to begin in the spring of 2023, announced the municipality of Ferencváros.
A new futuristic metro station
The municipality of Ferencváros, with the help of an expert jury, chose the designs of the Garten Studio Kft. The capital city of Hungary is progressively getting a new greener face. The newest addition to this colour palette will be the metro station at Ecseri Street. Right next to the József Attila housing estate, an upgraded and better version of the same park will appear. The iconic mall, the surrounding streets and the parking lot will all be renewed and refurbished. The approximately 10,300 square meters large area will now be free from a road crossing. Therefore, the bus stops will be moved to the side of the square from the centre. This way, more green space will be available for the plants, according to PestBuda.
From the image, we can see that between the bike lane and the road, there will be a green strip. Thus, more greenery will be present which makes biking much safer. Even in the middle of the road, the safety island will be green. Overall, the whole scenery will be much greener and more organised, creating a fresh and new community area in the centre of the town. On-ground images present an even brighter future for the park:
The end of an era
The plans announce the end of an era as the M3 metro line might be completed soon. The renovation of the M3 line has been going on for 5 years now. It all started on 6th November 2017, but now it seems like the end is near. According to Blikk.hu, the line will finally be completed in the spring of next year. It was a long and arduous journey, but it seems to have been worth the wait. Soon enough, people will be able to move unhindered from the north of Budapest to the south.
Still, we have to wait a bit more so that the middle section can be completed. The whole metro will become barrier-free, new security systems are installed, and entire stations will be reconstructed, like Nagyvárad Square and Lehel Square.
